iPad..iPad ... and what will you use it for?

"Our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutinary device at an unbelievable price!".. have been tweeting about the iPad for a couple of days and getting nowhere... more to come: @Odymon (his blog) @pgoss "we're buying 20 to determine usefulness in an ambulatory care setting. We have vendors porting apps to iPod/iPad platform (medical)"..and goes on to say: "we just want to see since we're currently using tablets and PocketPC's which physicians HATE". But most responses were like: "I'll use it for nothing" or  "Reading the paper in the morning" ..Ok and very clever.. the disciples will line up and within a week we'll see where we are with it... I'm thinking 32 with G3 ...or wait for G4... nice lapless laptop for $800? (with keyboard)... line starts on 4/2...how about you?

How about a Waterproof case?

Linksys Dual N-Band Router solves a problem.

This is a WRT610N. I had big files (400Gb) to transfer on "our" home network. took all day...This router help tremendously and really solved the problem by allowing two media servers to transfer the large media files over our home Ethernet network (at 10+Mbps).  The set-up (LELA) didn't work but a call to Cisco got me promptly to a person I could understand and I was running in no time whatsoever... easy. Can't say I notice an improvement in Wi-Fi performance but I suspect that if I had some of the cool methods CNET uses to test this stuff there would be a huge improvement over the G Band routers we used previously. So an ATT 2 Wire router/modem at 6Mbps (as fast as we can get here) feeds the Cisco which is direct connected to the desktop, an old airport extreme and the media servers. Couldn't get it to recognize a usb lacie and an iomega unit. Highly recommended!...new cables helped as well (they always do and it's as noticeable here as in the main stereo and theater systems in our home-a great investment)..We took thousands of CDs and saved them on a server... it occurred to me it might be a good idea to back it up..didn't learn that one the hard way... 15+  shopping bags of CD's donated to a good cause.. less for us to move next time!

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 10MP Digital Camera

From the Manufacturer
The new Lumix ZS3 features 10.1-megapixels, a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens and 12x optical zoom, meaning it has added 2x optical zoom to the award-winning TZ-series camera, yet reduced its size. The ZS3 also features a Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens and High Definition (HD) video recording ability, known as AVCHD Lite.

The ZS3 is the world’s first digital camera to feature HD video recording in "AVCHD Lite." Compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format, AVCHD Lite allows longer recordings with breathtaking HD visual and audio quality. This combined with a well-considered control interface, which includes a dedicated movie recording button on the camera’s back panel, makes the ZS3 a hybrid model that performs admirably for both still and motion image capture.

We have heard so many great things about this camera and it's time to upgrade the everyday rig... any thoughts?

You Love Technology... but can you use it?

Started this site for my friends so I could answer the question, "what do you know/think about...?" Had a high end home theater design business and have witnessed and managed home technology projects that cost close to a million dollars...Most have been winners, but there have been some royal pains as well. Have some time on the water now, and geared toward simplicity and I'm gonna review gadgets and stuff (I've never seen a gadget I didn't want to "play" with). This is stuff that we use personally use in and around the Treehouse. We may talk about our experience syncing Blackberries with our computers (Android will make it simple) and bookmarks (get x-marks for firefox) and anti-virus.. p all ads on this and our other sites are affiliates... they will not influence our "comments". Only our experience and the experience of our friends will count. Tethering my BOLD through ATT will make the list as a complete time waster for example..Product info will come from manufacturers. Ultimately this will be about improving marketing, customer service and corporate vision... too many tricks in the marketplace... we'll figure you out...
